

Alan J. Leahy
Alan J. Leahy’s primary area of practice is employment law and
related litigation. He also has extensive experience in civil
and business litigation.
Mr. Leahy was previously a Partner at the law firms of both Bridges
and Leahy, and Covington and Crowe LLP. He also has previously
served as Deputy City Attorney for the City of Hesperia.
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Leahy worked as a judicial extern
at the United States Bankruptcy Court in San Jose. He also studied
international and comparative law at Magdalen College in Oxford,
England.
Mr. Leahy has extensive experience in both the prosecution and
defense of a wide variety of general civil matters for private
sector clients. He has represented numerous employers and management
in employment lawsuits, as well as with respect to administrative
complaints with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
and California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH).
Mr. Leahy also conducts and oversees employer investigations involving
employee allegations of harassment, discrimination and retaliation.
He has also represented the public sector in the defense of allegations
brought before the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development
(HUD).
Additionally, Mr. Leahy’s specialty in employment law includes
providing preventative advice to employers on various human resource
and employee personnel issues for the purpose of litigation avoidance.
It also includes his handling of employer investigations into
allegations of employee misconduct. He provides seminars for employers
on sexual harassment and discrimination related issues.
Mr. Leahy’s nearly fifteen years of litigation experience has
emphasized on working with both the public and private sector
providing advice and guidance on a wide variety of personnel issues
including education of employees to complex employment contract
disputes. His experience also includes public entity defense involving
alleged personal injury, inverse condemnation, assessments, and
other tort and contractual issues. Mr. Leahy has an outstanding
record of success for his clients whether through litigation or
negotiations.
Mr. Leahy became a member of the State Bar of California in 1994.
He has been a member of the American Bar Association, as well
as the Riverside, San Bernardino and Western San Bernardino County
Bar Associations. He was a member of the Leo A. Deegan Inn of
Court from 1997 through 2004.
Mr. Leahy received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science-International
Relations from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
in 1990. At UCLA he also received an emphasis in Business Administration.
He received his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Santa Clara University
in 1994.
